When you're ready for a team of chiropractors
THAT CARE AS MUCH ABOUT GETTING YOU BACK ON THE MOUNTAINS AS YOU DO,
You can feel confident you're in the right place!
OUR MISSION
At Backcountry Health, our mission is to give you more days in the mountains and less days in our office! We look to the cause of your pain and dysfunction and address it quickly and effectively. As chiropractors we serve as primary care physicians, with specific interest in the treatment of musculoskeletal injuries, so that our clients can bike harder, run farther, ski longer, shred deeper and climb higher.
As sports chiropractors, our treatment goes far beyond the simple chiropractic adjustment, working into the muscles, fascia, ligaments, and tendons that are affected.
In addition to the latest treatment techniques and modalities, we focus intensively on patient education. Our distinguishing objective is to build each patient a “toolbox”, which they can carry with them for the rest of their lives.
OUR GOAL IS TO FIND OUT WHY IT HURTS, AND NOT JUST TO TREAT WHAT HURTS. LET'S GET TO THE ROOT OF YOUR PROBLEM TOGETHER!

"In 2010 I had a bad experience at another chiropractic office and swore off the practice for 7 years, but my trust has been restored after seeing the docs at JH Backcountry Health. I started playing roller derby with the Jackson Hole Juggernauts last year and thought for sure my body was going to be in shambles at the end of the season. Luckily for me, Dr. Tyler and Dr. Laura were around to put me back together after every grueling bout. They were willing to listen and work with me, fine tuning my body in a respectful manner. They have helped alleviate excruciating knee pain and have helped increase mobility in my hips, back and chest with a stretching program I follow at home. I recommend Backcountry Health for all aches and pains, stresses and strains.
Thank you for all the help!"

What is Chiropractic? The word chiropractic means “Done by hand.” We do hands-on non-invasive treatment for musculoskeletal issues and nerve entrapment. As sports chiropractors, our treatment goes far beyond the simple chiropractic adjustment, working into the muscles, fascia, ligaments and tendons that are affected. Our goal is to find out why it hurts, not just to treat what hurts.

What does our typical chiropractic visit look like? The first visit starts with an exam including orthopedic tests as indicated and an analysis of how your joints move as well any imbalances in your muscles that could be contributing to your issue. From there we address the soft tissue injuries and imbalances. We may use Active Release Techniques, Graston, cupping, stretching, and other therapies. Next as chiropractors, we typically adjust. Adjusting is simply putting movement into a joint; it may or may not produce a cavitation, that “pop” often associated with chiropractic visits. If you’re not ready for an adjustment, let us know; we are happy to take care of you with all the other therapies. We love to explain what is happening that is leading to your issues and teach stretches and simple exercises that will help you to continue to heal and avoid recurrence of the injury.
-
What should I expect on my first visit?Your first visit will take 30 to 45 minutes and comprises a detailed history; an exam including functional movement screening and orthopedic, neurological and muscle tests as indicated; treatment including myofascial release, chiropractic adjustments, and rehab prescription. Additional therapies (Electric Stim, Graston, RockTape, cupping) may used as needed.
-
What should I wear? Please dress in clothes that allow you to move. Athletic shorts or legging allow us to work much better than jeans!

Will I need to come back? This depends on the condition and what you are looking for. We like to get you feeling better and out doing what you love as quick as possible. Some issues resolve in one visit; most take a few. We love to teach you what you can do to take charge of your health and not have to visit us too often.
